Certification
Choosing a home inspector with the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors (OAHI)
and the Canadian Association of Property and Home Inspector (CAHPI)
certifications is critical when choosing a home inspector. These
certifications ensure that your home inspector has the adequate background,
experience and necessary education to complete a home inspection to the
national standard.
Many
organizations require only an application fee for membership. Some claim to
offer certification but don't require exams or proven credentials. To gain
membership in some organizations, all you need is to take an online exam.
CAHPI is the only national non-profit professional organization in Canada
that rigorously tests home inspectors about their technical knowledge and
diagnostic expertise prior to joining the organization as well as requiring
continuing education after admission to keep current with new technology and
building practices.
Code of Conduct
At Bluewater Home Inspection, all
of our inspectors adhere to a strict code of conduct and ethics. A copy of
this COE is available on the CAHPI website.
